Padel Court FAQs

From idea to first match

How much space do I need for a padel court?

A standard padel court measures 20m x 10m, but additional space is normally required around the court for foundations, access, drainage and construction. We can assess your available area and advise on the most suitable layout for your site.

Yes. Padel courts are increasingly being installed at private homes and estates, provided there is sufficient space and suitable access. We can design the court around your garden, grounds and surrounding landscaping to create a facility that complements the property.

In many cases, planning permission will be required, particularly where fencing, lighting or significant groundworks are involved. Requirements can vary depending on the location and type of property, so we can help identify the considerations before your project progresses.

Good ground preparation is essential for a long-lasting padel court. This will normally include excavation, a suitable sub-base, foundations, drainage and a level playing surface. The exact specification will depend on the existing ground conditions and the chosen court system.

Timescales vary depending on the site, groundworks and court specification. Once the groundwork is prepared, the court structure itself can usually be installed relatively quickly. We provide a clear programme before construction begins so you know what to expect.

Yes. Effective drainage helps prevent standing water, protects the playing surface and allows the court to return to use quickly after rain. Drainage requirements are considered during the design and groundworks stage and tailored to the conditions of the individual site.

Often, yes. An existing tennis court can provide an excellent location for one or more padel courts, although the existing base, drainage and dimensions will need to be assessed first. We can survey the court and recommend the most practical conversion solution.

Padel courts are relatively low maintenance, but regular care helps maintain appearance and playing performance. This typically includes cleaning the surface, redistributing the sand, removing leaves and debris, checking the glass and structure, and periodically inspecting drainage and artificial turf.
